Putty On The Brain

Zack walks inside Angel Grove High School and meets Billy at his locker. Zack is excited to show Billy the new shades he got for science. Billy thinks they will provide adequate protection while Zack thinks the shades will make them look cool. Lord Zedd comes with an idea - he places a spell on the shades - whoever puts on the shades will see the Rangers as putties. Billy and Zack see their friends in the hall and decide to put on their shades. They are stunned when they a putty at Tommy's locker and two putties in the hall. Zack and Billy remove the shades, but the spell remains.
Jason, Kimberly, and Tommy are puzzled by Zack and Billy's behavior, and Kimberly puts it down to one of Jack's jokes. Mr. Caplan walks up and Billy and Zack think the "putties" are going after Mr. Caplan. Mr. Caplan gets knock to the ground and gives Billy and Zack detention. Kimberly, Jason, and Tommy are bewildered. Elsewhere in the school, Bulk & Skull decide to try their newest attempt on finding out who the Rangers are by recording voices. Ms. Appleby calls the Bulk & Skull into her classroom and asks them if they will feed her iguana while she is out. Ms. Appleby leaves and Bulk & Skull empty the entire food box into the iguana's case. Lord Zedd places a spell on the iguana and Saliguana appears in front of Bulk & Skull. Bulk & Skull scream and leave the room. Later, Ms. Appleby's classroom. Zack and Billy continued to be confused as "putties" sit in the classroom. One "putty" is passing out papers, and Zack thinks he recognizes Kimberly's voice. Zack almost gets in trouble again with Ms. Appleby. Bulk & Skull are in the classroom as well and Skull accidentally plays a recording of Ms. Appleby's voice which lands Bulk & Skull into detention. After school, while in detention, Zack and Billy try to figure out what is going on. They come to the conclusion that they are under a spell that makes them see their fellow Rangers as putties. Bulk & Skull are in detention as well and decide to try on the guys' shades. Within moments, Bulk & Skull leave the classroom terrified as they had just seen Zack and Billy as putties. After detention, Billy and Zack walk in the park. There are a group of putties and Billy and Zack assumed the putties are their friends. The putties attack Billy and Zack and they realized that the putties are for real. Zordon sends the rest of the Rangers to help Billy and Zack. Trini, Tommy, Kimberly, and Jason arrived and the confusion increases for Billy and Zack. Zack and Billy stand on the sidelines for a moment, until they realized that their friends would never attack them. Zack and Billy join in the battle and Zack almost injures Trini. The teens defeat the putties and Zack and Billy tell their friends that they see them as putties. They teleport to the command center. Billy and Zack continue to see their friends as putties. Zordon tells them of Lord Zedd's plans to keep them confuse as he releases Saliguana on Angel Grove. Billy and Zack go to Billy's lab to work on a devise that would freeze Saliguana. Trini teleports to Billy's lab to test a theory. Trini morphs to the Yellow Ranger and Zack and Billy see her as the Yellow Ranger and not a putty. The Rangers run out of time as Saliguana attacks the city. Tommy has to sit out the battle as he is too weak. The rest of the Rangers morph and battle the putties. Saliguana and the Rangers have a difficult time. The Rangers called for their zords and eventually destroy Saliguana. The following day Miss Appleby's iguana returns to it's normal form. Billy and Zack sit in Miss Appleby's classroom, and still see their friends as putties. Jason, Kimberly, and Tommy enter the classroom and Jason gives them the shades that Alpha 5 has fixed. Billy and Zack put on the shades and the spell is broken. Skull notices the iguana climbing up his leg. Bulk thinks the iguana can sniff out the Rangers and they set the iguana on the floor to find the Rangers. When the class sees the iguana loose, they run out of the classroom. Ms. Appleby tells Bulk & Skull to put the iguana away. As Bulk & Skull walk away, Skull feels that now they will never now if the Rangers were in the classroom. Jason, Trini, Zack, Billy, Kimberly, and Tommy laugh.
